Dementia assessment and therapy

The first step is to confirm the suspicion of dementia by means of psychological tests. There are a number of suitable tests for this purpose.
In addition, the causes of dementia must be researched, whereby in particular treatable and thus possibly regressible forms of dementia (approx. 10 %) must be filtered out.

This includes blood tests, EEG (measurement of brain waves), Doppler or colour duplex sonographic examinations of the vessels supplying the brain, imaging examinations of the brain such as CCT or magnetic resonance imaging and possibly a cerebrospinal fluid examination.

Dementia is treated with medication, brain training and, if necessary, therapeutic support.
