Electroencephalography (EEG) measures the electrical activity of the brain. For this purpose, 24 surface electrodes are placed on the scalp by means of a hood. The derived signals result in a brain waveform. 

This is helpful in diagnosing epileptic seizures, detecting focal or even general brain dysfunction. The examination is painless and takes about 20-30 minutes.
